I listen to The Limbaugh Show as often as I can. Since I’ve been semi-retired I’ve been actively trying to listen to all talk radio, cable tv, print, Facebook and social media. It’s incredibly time consuming, but I feel the need to figure out what the hell has happened to the amazing, beautiful country that I love. It’s still the best place to live in the world… but we are hurting.
Lately, you are incredulous that Biden could have achieved the numbers of ballots that are reported. You say this is proof positive of an invalid, illicit election. Funny, that’s how I felt in 2016. Having lived in NYC all my professional life I knew that Donald Trump was a self-promoting, symbol of extreme conspicuous consumption, a total bull-shitter, and a philandering creep. No one but his immediate family (that probably love him for the inheritance they may get) should ever vote for this con man. But he won. How?
How did Trump win?
Though you deny it and call it a “Russian Hoax”, Russia was undoubtedly part of the equation. All of our intelligence agencies (Remember them? The people that have kept us all safe for the last 50 years) agree that Russia meddled in an in an extreme way in 2016. You and Trump deny it because it delegitimizes your stance.
Here is my humble opinion of the Russian effect on the 2016 election:
By all accounts, Russia reached at least 124 million people through their social media disinformation campaign. This “fake news” from Putin was aimed to demonize Clinton and help Trump. It called Clinton a murderer and evil. This intense Russian disinformation effort also aimed to divide the races in America.
In my long professional life of advertising, we learned that we could show an ad to an audience and get conservatively 3-4 % of them to buy our product. All we had to do was make sure we reached an interested audience (demographics) with a compelling story (creative concepts that spoke to the viewers interests).
If you take just 1% of 124 million you’d have 1.24 million. That’s easily enough to sway the election. Putin targeted his social media campaign with the help of Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman. Manafort handed his Russian contacts the polling data to help the targeting, though the states in question were widely known. 70 thousand people in 3 states that made the difference that elected Trump. Putin has admitted he wanted Trump to win in 2016.
Sure, Trump made an appeal to people that were mad at the waste, and failings of government. Trump’s claim to be the “only one that can fix America” inflamed passions, inspired hate, and garnered a following of pissed-off people.
When you add the anger Trump inspired and used – and Russian disinformation, to the chaos that Jim Comey’s last-minute announcements made, and Wikileaks dumps that were encouraged, and coordinated by Trump and his team – you get Trump elected.
Can we prove the Russian Collusion Profusion?
Will we ever know how much Trump was involved with this effort? Probably not. Trump has pardoned all of the team involved to reward them for not “ratting” (his own word for their silence). This alone is un-American. A president pardoning the people accused in a conspiracy with him!!! Trumps obstruction of the Muller investigation is well documented and his obstruction of justice may be pursued by future Justice Dept officials.
Can you ever document that a person’s mind was changed by something they read on Facebook or Twitter? I don’ think so. No one would admit to being so gullible and poorly informed. Anecdotally, I can testify to it though. I tried to engage people online as I became alarmed to see this con-man gain momentum. The things people said about Clinton were bizarre! These people were accusing the Clinton’s of murder, child molestation, embezzlement and just about everything but kicking a dog! I had never, ever seen anything like this in my long life.
How did Biden win?
So… Trump has been predicting that the Dems would cheat. He said the only way he could lose is if they cheated! When have any one of us ever entered a competition and felt there was NO WAY to possibly lose? When Trump lost the election he said to his minions: “find the evidence of cheating!” Isn’t this ass backwards? Don’t you find evidence of cheating – then accuse the cheater?
Does anyone remember that right before the 2016 Trump accused the election of being rigged? Then when he won, but lost the popular vote. He dropped the “rigged” accusation but he said that illegal immigrants prevented him from winning the popular vote. He claimed that he really won the popular vote and created a commission to find the fraud. They found nothing. Zero. Zilch!
The people delivered a clear message in 2020
Trump lost, and Republican Senators and Representatives didn’t. There was a clear rejection of the chaos, lies and childish behavior that Trump brought to America. Not a rejection of Conservative values, just a rejection of Trump. The people were highly motivated to come out and vote to save their country.
So Investigate!
We felt as you do – that there had to be an investigation! So that foreign interference could never hijack our election process again. But Trump did everything he could to hinder, block, intimidate and not cooperate with the investigation. Even though we have a system of checks and balances… he ignored the checks on him and supplied NO information. Always the litigious one, he sicked his lawyers on the investigation.
Eventually, The Mueller Report showed us (that bothered to read it) that there were serious instances of the Trump campaign encouraging Russian interference and of Trump obstructing the investigation. We also learned that the investigation NEVER followed the money! How can one investigate Donald Trump and not follow the money?!?!?! We also learned that Mr Mueller was ill, which may have had an effect on the report. And we learned that Bill Barr would mis-characterize the report as favorable to Trump, to help his boss.
“ If a lie is repeated often enough people will accept it as fact.”
Joseph Goebbels,
Former Chancellor and Chief Propagandist of Nazi Germany
So investigate the election as you feel you must. I’m sure you can find all kinds of stupid mistakes and stupid events. A very few dead people have somehow voted in every election, and often they vote for Mickey Mouse. If you look hard enough you can probably even find someone that has wiped their ass with a ballot. But widespread fraud and a conspiracy to rig the election? NO WAY! To make that statement without evidence is to undermine and damage Democracy. You are repeating and reinforcing the lies that Vadimir Putin has been saying about our country for years.
Your investigation will probably cost the taxpayers less than the hundreds of lawyers that Trump is forcing on the courts right now ( Nearly 60 Republican judges have already thrown out these lawsuits). It’ll no doubt cost less than the $340+ million that we’ve already paid for Trump’s golf outings. Much of the golf outing money going directly into Trump’s pockets since the whole entourage has to stay at his golf resorts (without any special rates for Secret Service, etc).
It’s ironic
In a way, it’s funny that we couldn’t believe the election in 2016, and you can’t believe the election in 2020. We both love America. Let’s find the facts and believe in them. Stop with the wild, unfounded conspiracies. Stick with evidence. I hope and pray we can find an America where we trust our fellow Americans.
Facts:
- Russia did attack our 2016 election in a systematic coordinated way. With intensity they had never brought against us before. It’s NOT a delusion.
- His campaign chairman, Manafort, had extensive ties to Russia. He worked with Russian intelligence assets in Ukraine for years and handed over 2016 campaign data to them.
- There were hundreds of contacts with Russian’s by the Trump team. Other candidates had one or two contacts with Russian officials.
- Trump has done business with Russia for decades. And was deceitful when asked if he had business there. He had the biggest deal of his life “pending” in Moscow. Not signed but it had not fallen through yet either.
- As with almost all NYC real estate people, Trump had extensive contact with Russian oligarchs. He sold them very, very expensive apartments so they could get their money safely out of Russia. He was essentially laundering money for them. He sold a Florida property at way above market value and told his lawyer that he believed Putin was behind “the gift”.
- Roger Stone, Trump’s friend of 40 years, is suspected of coordinating the Wikileaks stolen emails. Wikileaks is considered by our defense department to be an arm of Russian intelligence.
- He only uses Deutsche Bank, well known as a Russian oligarch money laundering source.
- Trump said that Putin was a better leader than our won president.
- In a news conference, Trump said he believed Putin rather than our own intelligence agencies.
- Trump said nothing when news surfaced of Russian bounties on the heads of our soldiers in Afganistan!
- When news surfaced recently of the biggest, most serious cyber attack on our government by Russia, Trump denied it was Russia.
These are facts. If the FBI and CIA didn’t look into this connection they would have been guilty of negligence.
